By a unanimous vote of the Board of Aldermen, Grandview approved smokefree public places effective January 1, 2012 . The board approved the local smoking ordinances on July 26th, 2011.

There is a grandfather/sunset exemption until August 1, 2014 for five bars. If the bar changes ownership, closes and re-opens, etc., it must open as smokefree. Existing stand-alone private clubs with separate ventilation and signage also are exempt.
